Remember Steve Nalepa, who taught at Corry Area High School and coached softball with Dale Henderson before an outstanding decade of coaching the Lady Beavers basketball team? Steve, who is now married to Jen Lesher's sister Amy, taught here for 11 years (1986-1997) and coached nine years (1987-96). He and Dale started the first high school softball team here with Steve as head coach for two years before Dale took the reins. He also was Rich Read's assistant coach in basketball for one season before taking the helm for some outstanding Lady Beavers teams. And he coached football here one season that got him to Corry in 1986. Steve is now retired after being a pharmaceutical drug salesman.

Steve also left a batch of team photos with the girls IDs on the outstanding teams. I gave them to Bill West, who was happy to have them.

Theresa Williams posted a girls softball photo that I probably took around 1973-74. It included Jeanne Bracken, Kim Keppel Brown, Anne Gates, Chris Sekerak and Debbie Minnick. She also recalled that the girls had a team called the Tomatoes where the girls sewed their own vinyl shirts.

I see that Preston Eshelman has a special hat autographed by Larry the Cable Guy.

Happy 50th anniversary to Bonnie and Bill McQuiston.

Jim Moats is all smiles again after helping coach Neshannock to the WPIAL 2A championship winning 12-2 over Laurel. Neshannock is back-to-back champs and has now won 46 straight games.

There's a benefit bingo for the late Tammy Hellyer on June 24 at the VFW starting at 3 p.m. That night, from 8 p.m. to midnight, Revolving Again will be playing.

I learned that if Bruce Jaquith tells you it's dangerous to park your car behind the bleachers at Bracken Field, you should take his advice.

We lost a special man with the passing of Gerry Owens. He was known for many things like measuring the snowfall and playing Taps at Veterans' funerals. I remember when he'd stop in The Journal riding his motorcycle and wearing a cowboy hat and then having conversations with George Sample.

Phil Griffis made it to his car show in Carlisle after quite a send-off with his garage catching fire. And he got a photo of the flames.

Everyone loved the ice cream Saturday at the 10th anniversary of Corry Companion.

Happy birthday tomorrow to Dave French, Thursday to Tom Tripp, Greg Gurdak and Aaron Grinder, Friday to Sabrina Cummings Pierce and Jack "07 Yankee" McIntyre.

Belated birthday wishes to Judy Upperman (41 times two) and belated 57th anniversary wishes to Sandy and Bob Howles.
